National Apprenticeship Week

Katriona: So this week is National Apprenticeship Week across the entire United States. What does that actually mean Patricia?

Patricia: National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity to shine a light on the valuable skills that can be acquired through apprenticeship. Those skills can lead to really rewarding careers some of which I'm sure you've come across with your work in real estate.

Katriona: Absolutely. Plumbers, contractors, electricians, wood carpenters… these are

all real skills and often people choose to do an apprenticeship as an alternative to going to college because that's actually what they want to do with their career and their life. But there are costs associated with that.

Patricia: That is correct. So while individuals are learning valuable skills through apprenticeships, there are sometimes costs associated with them. It could be uniforms, supplies, equipment. What many people do not know is that 529 College savings plans can be used to cover the costs associated with certain registered apprenticeships

Katriona: And how long has that been going on?

Patricia: That's a new addition over the past few years. So 529 continues to get expanded to cover many forms of education that go well beyond college and apprenticeships is just one.

Katriona: So if you want to know more about this, Patricia Roberts, the Chief Operating Officer of Gifted College is your woman. Her contact details are below.
